most mornings by 7am i’m at the cemetery with stevie. it’s where she takes me for a walk. she leads. or stays still. during these moments i look around. often i’ll say hi to whosever names are carved into the stones i’m next to. because it’s their place not mine. not yet.
the routine is my daily wake up call. a time to remember why i’m here and maybe for how long too. the quiet. the landscape. the rising sun over the river next to me. but most of all the quiet. and doing my best to let stevie and and i just be. and to feel my heart beat.
