transitioning a lug. there are tools. the materials. and you. as with any detail on the frame as well as on the frame itself, it’s a collaboration. you grab a willing partner and think about the end. you get there by walking a path. on it there’s touching. agreeing. acquiescing. anxiety. patience. a top. a bottom. an outside. an inside. timing is irrelevant. finishing is less important. what matters is where you are on the path. and if each stroke of the many small files please you. or pleases the part. or please you and the part. and you think about taking one more stroke. but you know one less is where the most pleasure comes from.
