More Process Shooting

more process shots. these are the three frame lugs with the edges profiled to match the tune in my head. i came up in a system when all frames had lugs, and all lugs required the human touch before anything could be fixtured, brazed, or finished. i’m glad that’s in my dna. for the tech nerds, these are from my stash of 1970s nervex ref 32 lugs. i had these made for me direct from the factory in france. each of the three parts was ordered in one of four angles. i’d imagine the same piece was bored through four different ways to ease manufacture. the rest is up to me. a data point. that scene in close encounters – the mash potatoes. dude sees the devil’s tower in everything. even his dinner. these lugs are my devil’s tower. nearly every frame i’ve made has these parts or the next iteration of them. my richie-issimo lugs created in 2002 are the 21st century reincarnation of these shapes. i’ve often said that had i not been drawn into these as a youngster i don’t think lugs would have any meaning at all. deep, huh. i’ll add some of yesterday’s images for comparison. i gots abouts four hours into the edges. next step is to thin them down and tighten up the shapes.
